Interested in a career in science, nature, or the environment? These professionals will spend an interactive hour talking with the young (and young at heart) about their really "cool" jobs and how they link passion and profession.

Gail Golec

gail-golec.jpgGail received her B.S. in Anthropology from Mercyhurst College in 1999 and has since been working as a professional archaeologist in the New England area. Currently she works for a cultural resource management company, Monadnock Archaeological Consulting, LLC, as a project archaeologist, doing surveys and excavations. She has been working on a research project with Dr. Robert Goodby of Franklin Pierce University, compiling background research and documentation on and locating archaeological sites in the Connecticut River Valley and the Monadnock Region. Gail's interests also include the study of faunal skeletal remains found on archaeological sites, which has led her to amass a creepy little menagerie of animal skulls and bones!

Phil Hamilton

Phil HamiltonPhil is a research scientist working for the New England Aquarium where he tracks and catalogs whales and their scat. He will share stories about his partner, Bob, a whale-scat-sniffing dog, who is now retired. Phil received his BA in environmental studies from SUNY Binghamton, and his MS in biology from the University of Massachusetts.

Kate Yard

Kate-Yard.jpgKate is the Program Director for the Ashuelot Valley Environmental Observatory (AVEO), where she coordinates citizen science programs. Kate received her BS with high honors in Wildlife Biology from the University of Montana and is currently completing an MS degree in Conservation Biology at Antioch University New England. She has a wealth of avian experience and has worked as an interpretive naturalist, volunteer coordinator, and co-instructor of an alternative environmental education program for high school students.
