Volunteer
Volunteers are very important to us here at the Nature Museum. See below for descriptions of current volunteer opportunities.
In addition to the positions listed below we are always looking for help with:
- vacation camps
- school group museum visits
- work with our natural history collections
- garden maintenance

Volunteer Opportunities
Being a Weekend Host/Hostess at the Museum
Responsibilities:
- Work the desk for a 3 hours shift on a Saturday or Sunday
- Welcoming visitors to the Museum
- Collect entrance fees and keep a tally of visitor numbers
- Oversee the store sales
Summer Camp Assistant, 2007
Expectations:
You will be a second set of eyes during the days program helping to make sure the children are where they should be and are acting in a safe manner. You will also be a second set of hands helping children during games and with crafts projects.
Requirements:
- You need to be at least 14 years old
- Have an interest in working with children
- Enjoy being in the out-of-doors working with plants, insects, and amphibians
Dates & Times: (We can use up to 2 helpers per camp session)
- June 27 to June 29 with 3 to 5 year olds
- July 16 to July 20 with 6 to 8 year olds
- July 23 to July 27 with 6 to 8 year olds
- July 30 to Aug. 3 with 4 to 5 year olds
Care Taker of The Nature Museum’s Garden Pond
Responsibilities:
- Open pond in spring (about 4 hours)
- Maintain proper working order of pond filter and pump
- Check on pond once every two weeks to -
- Monitor water level
- Monitor algae levels
- Care for pond plants
- Close pond in the fall (about 4 hours)
- You set your own hours
