"Drops in the Watershed" Homeschool Program

In this six session series, students will learn all about water in our landscape. The focus areas of the series include map reading and map making skills, the water cycle, natural history of Vermont, understanding watersheds and water features, the power of water to shape the earth (erosion and deposition), recording scientific data in the field, employing the scientific process, and the mathematical concepts related to moving water (stream velocity). All sessions will include both indoor and outdoor lessons and exploration. Together we will make a model of our study area, The Village of Grafton, and discover how adding flowing water shapes the model landscape. Optional at-home extensions are provided to expand upon session concepts.
