Mighty Acorns March Session

Held from October to May on the first Friday of each month, Mighty Acorns Club invites young adventurers to explore the natural world through interactive and hands-on lessons, activities, and outdoor adventures. This program is held at The Nature Museum and all sessions involve exploring nearby areas that include forest, meadow, our native plant garden, and more.

These programs offer creative, open-ended, exploratory programs focused towards children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers.  Although this program series aims to meet the learning needs of students ages 3-5, older students are welcome if interested!

Please note: Mighty Acorns Club will happen rain, snow, warm, cold, or shine! We feel it’s important and fun to spend time exploring the outdoors in all conditions. Although there is often time spent indoors during programs, make sure that you and your mighty acorn(s) are prepared to spend approximately 1 hour outdoors in whatever the weather has in store for us! If there are unsafe weather conditions (e.g. thunder/lightning, high winds, extreme cold, etc.), we will have alternative indoor activities/exploration. The Nature Museum follows the decision of Grafton Elementary School regarding closure due to weather. If the museum is closed, programming will not take place.

Cost:  $5 in advance per child; $8 drop-in. Caregivers are free.

Schedule for March

Do you like maple syrup on your pancakes? Maybe you like it better on french toast! Maple syrup is a true sweet treat of nature! Where does maple syrup come from? What happens to get it from tree to pancake? There is a lot that happens to make this special sweet syrup. Come discover more about the New England tradition of maple sugaring. If the time is right, we’ll visit a local sugar shack to see maple sugaring in action! Alternatively, we’ll head outside to discover nearby maple trees, thank them for their sweet treat, taste some maple syrup, and make a sugar shack craft. Note: If there is a deep snowpack, we will use snowshoes. To help us make sure we have enough snowshoes for everyone, please let us know if you would like to reserve any pairs when registering or by contacting us directly!
